Wedding Ceremonies can take place in many environments. Whether
you've always dreamed about a traditional church wedding or something
fun and casual like getting married on the beach, Tremblant offers
it all from Grand Affairs to intimate settings!
In Québec, a person may be married in either a civil, non-denominational,
or religious ceremony. All of these types of ceremony are valid, and all
carry the same legal weight.
A civil ceremony is performed by a clerk, deputy clerk, or notary designated
to this effect. The ceremony is performed in a courthouse or town hall.
A religious ceremony is performed by a priest, a pastor, or any minister of
religion authorized for this purpose by law. This includes ecumenical ceremonies
that include more than one religion. The ceremony is performed in a church, chapel,
or other house of worship.
A non-denominational ceremony is performed by a wedding professional licensed by
the province in which they work. They specialize in personalized wedding ceremonies
that can be performed outdoors, in a private home, or any other location of choice.
They are not, however, performed in a church or other house of worship.
